Liar Liar

Nicole Graves finds herself in the crosshairs when she reluctantly agrees to babysit a witness in a high-profile rape trial. Mary Ellen Barnes is suing her university’s star quarterback for rape when the authorities won’t act. In the court of public opinion, Mary Ellen appears to be the quintessential, pious, good girl. But her lies and mysterious comings and goings lead Nicole to suspect that she’s not what she seems.

It isn’t just Mary Ellen who’s acting suspiciously. No one wants to own up to the truth in Liar Liar, not even Nicole, whose fiancé begs her not to look into the case. But when the witness goes missing during the trial, Nicole is caught up in a tangle of lies that turns deadly. After the investigator assigned to the case fails to do his job, Nicole is determined to find the killer on her own, no matter the risks.

WHAT REVIEWERS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT LIAR LIAR

Liar Liar_Social Media12.jpeg

"LIAR LIAR had me hooked from the start. Nicole Graves is the best fictional sleuth to come down the pike since Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone. I loved following her adventures both in and out of court in this compelling legal thriller."
—Laura Levine, author of the popular Jaine Austen mysteries

"Liar Liar creates exquisite tension in the mystery area, but its focus on Nicole's evolving relationships and the impact of her latest case on her life is the real strength in this saga. Readers receive more than a 'whodunnit': they are given an astute, gripping, personal story that blends courtroom proceedings and criminal investigation with revelations about the protagonist's personal life and how they dovetail and clash."—D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review

“Boyarsky’s snappy prose, timely topics and knowing dissection of Los Angeles and human frailty make Liar Liar a pleasure to read.”—Denise Hamilton, author of Damage Control and Los Angeles Noir

“I’m attracted to a female protagonist who goes beyond the call of duty and common sense to follow her gut instincts, and Liar Liar rewards the reader with surprises and the primal thrill and fear of being chased by a big, musclebound boogey man, and living to tell the tale.”—Caitlin Hicks, award-winning author of A Theory of Expanded Love

Liar Liar is a sure-handed, page-turning dash through the streets of Los Angeles—with Santa Monica and Malibu thrown in for good measure—and the promise and perils of the ‘Me Too’ movement.” —Ron Rapoport, author of Let’s Play Two: The Legend of Mr Cub, The Life of Ernie Banks

"Boyarsky's imagination serves up a court case that plays with expectations during an era where we push to believe women, resulting in some real bad baddies whom it feels good to root against." Meredith Grahl Counts, Foreword Reviews

What a treat! Start reading on a day when you have no other plans, though, because once you start, you won't want to stop until Nicole Graves solves the crime.” —Narda Zacchino, author of California Comeback, The Genius of Jerry Brown

Nicole has another assignment from hell: protecting an unreliable high-profile trial. Oh, and her job, her engagement to the ‘perfect’ man, and her life are in peril. Enjoy!”

—Rebecca J. Novelli, author of The Train to Orvieto
